How to Deal with Difficult People (Video)

Let's face it! At some point in our lives we've all dealt with difficult people. If you haven't then keep living because you will. Many times it's not the person, no matter how difficult they are, but it's us and how we deal with them that makes the difference.

In the above video, I give you nine ways ways to deal with difficult people (I skipped a number somewhere in the video) and they are:
  1. Respond, don't react.
  2. Stop expecting them to be different or better.
  3. Practice understanding.
  4. Learn how to communicate or speak their language.
  5. (Oops! I skipped this one in the video!)
  6. Ask yourself what about them upsets you.
  7. Don't allow their actions to harden your heart.
  8. Find the purpose in the relationship.
  9. Diffuse the situation.
  10. Forgive them.
The one I missed in the video is:

     5. Pray.

You have to pray for them and also pray for yourself. Pray to God to heal their hearts of whatever issue that may be causing them to be bitter and angry. Pray also for yourself for God to help you deal with them and also pray that their actions won't cause you to become a difficult person. Prayer is the key to making all of your relationships work. Remember, God knows both you and the person you're dealing with. Only He can minister to both your hearts and heal the hurt.

You'll notice that each step deals with you and your part in the situation! Regardless of who you deal with and what they do to you, the bottom line is you choose to feel hurt, sad, rejected, etc. based on what they do. Again, your response is your responsibility. Choose to take the high road for yourself. Refuse to let anyone upset you and get you to a point in your life where you begin to experience and project negative emotions to others. Be whole and be healed and operate from that place of wholeness and healing daily.
