30 Days with Jesus: Day 4

Affirmed by the Father with Love

Scripture - Matthew 3:13:17

Every child wants to be affirmed by their parents. In today’s passage, immediately after coming up from the water at His baptism, Jesus had a beautiful encounter with Heavenly Father (v. 16-17) in which He was confirmed and affirmed by Him.

The Bible says the Spirit of God descended like a dove. To me this represents how our Heavenly Father will meet us just where we are in life no matter what we’re doing. He’s ever-present, watching us, and paying attention to our every move. It doesn’t matter where you are, God is there and He is pleased with you!

Take a moment, quiet your surroundings, close your eyes and listen. Listen to God speak softly in your ear, “You are my beloved (son/daughter). I am well pleased with you.” Can you hear Him speaking? Can you feel His presence? He really loves you with all His heart; so much so that He wants you to know this day how much He loves you.

That word "pleased" means God takes delight in you. How beautiful is that? Your Heavenly Father delights in you. No matter what you may have done in your past, He is pleased with you. No matter where you live or how much money you have in the bank, God takes delight in you. He loves you with an everlasting love and nothing can separate you from that truth.

Today you’re encouraged to let today’s message sink in and receive it to the core of your spirit. Make this declaration all throughout the day, “I am God’s beloved (son/daughter). He is well pleased with me.” You may feel some resistance at first, but that’s because you’ve been programmed by so many outside influences to make you believe you’re not good enough or unworthy of receiving God’s love. But you are worthy! You are good enough! You are special to Him no matter what!

Journal
  • In what ways have you felt or seen the love of God in your life?
  • What mindsets or thoughts have you adopted that tries to prevent you from receiving God’s love?
  • Take some time to bask in the love of God today! Tell Him how much you love Him then say to Him, “I receive Your love in my life,” then allow Him to love you in return. Feel His presence and hear Him affirm you. Whatever resistance comes up, ask Him to remove those blockers so you can fully receive His love.
The Lord appeared to him from far away. “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore, I have continued to extend faithful love to you.” - Jeremiah 31:3, HCSB
