30 Days with Jesus: Day 21

Resurrected Hopes & Dreams

Scripture - John 11:38-44

In the natural realm, Lazarus' situation was hopeless. He for sick, died and was buried. That's it. Nothing could be some for him. Nothing could change his situation... except Jesus. With Jesus nothing is too late and nothing is impossible. Just like He reminded Martha, we only need to believe (v. 40).

I've buried some Lazarus in my life before... they were hopes and dreams I let die because I felt hopeless, helpless and I didn't believe God to keep them alive. So I let them die, buried them and chose not to return to them or acknowledge they even existed in the first place until Jesus came into my life and resurrected them. Just like Martha I struggled in my beliefs because they had been buried a long time, but when Jesus became the Lord of my life and I began to follow Him, He resurrected those hopes and dreams.

Have you buried your hopes and dreams? Have you buried the idea of ever being married… ever having children… ever starting your own business… ever finishing school…? If you have, there is hope for you! His name is Jesus Christ! Invite Jesus into every aspect of your life and surrender it wholeheartedly to Him. Lead Him to the places where you buried your hopes and dreams and allow Him to resurrect them.

Journal
  • What hopes and dreams have you buried?
  • Why did you bury them?
  • Revisit the tomb where you buried your hopes and dreams and invite Jesus to meet you there so He can speak life to them again. Ask Him for hope and the capacity to believe in His resurrection power.
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me, even if he dies, will live.” -John 11:25, HCSB
